Submit a Document

Once a document is complete, it has to be validated and then submitted to a final state for use in the system. States control where a document is stored in the database, what actions are available, and who can view and use the document. For more information, see Workflow.

Before a document can be submitted to a final state, it must be valid. When a document is submitted, it is automatically validated but you can also manually validate a document. For more information, see Validate a Document.

Submit

With a one or more documents selected, click the Submit button; or click the Submit and down-arrow button, and then select the Submit option.
The document is validated. If the validation was successful, an informational banner displays at the top of the tab to confirm that the document was submitted. If validation failed, a list of validation errors displays on the detail pane. For more information about validation errors, see Correct Validation Errors in a Document.

Submit and New

With a document selected, click the Submit and down-arrow button, and then select the Submit and New option. You can also press F9.
The current document instance is submitted, and a new document instance of the same document type is created.
