Validate a Document

Before a document can be submitted, it must be validated. When a document is submitted, it is automatically validated when the action is taken. However, you can also manually validate a document. Manual validation is based on what must be valid in order to submit the document. You will still be able to act on it. For example, Name is a required field. You can save a document without a Name, but you would not be able to submit the document. The manual validation will alert you that Name is required.

Validate Documents

With a document or multiple documents in a list selected in the content pane, click the Validate button.
If the validation was successful, a confirmation informational banner displays at the top of the tab. If validation failed, a list of validation errors displays on the detail pane. This process can be repeated as many times as necessary.

Correct Validation Errors in a Document

Validation errors display on the Validations tab of the detail pane. The list is specific to the document displayed on the content pane. For more information, see Detail Pane.

To quickly correct errors, double-click on the error message in the detail pane and your cursor is moved to that field in the document. Additionally, fields are displayed with a wavy, red line to indicate errors.

As each error is corrected, it is removed from the Validations tab.
